Amendments in legislation aimed at combating extremist activities approved

The Law of the Republic of Belarus of 20 April 2016 “On introduction of changes and additions in some laws of the Republic of Belarus” amended the legislation combating extremist activities. In particular provisions establishing criminal and administrative liability for extremist activities committed both in Belarus and abroad have been introduced into the Criminal Code and the Code of Administrative Offences. The Law also introduced amendments in the Law of the Republic of Belarus “On counteracting extremism” of 4 January 2007, which provide, among other topics, a new wording of the definition of the term “extremist activities”.

The Law was officially published in Russian on the National Legal Internet Portal of the Republic of Belarus on 22 April 2016 and enters into force in ten days after its official publication.
