Legislation concerning matters of forced migration amended

The Law of the Republic of Belarus of 20 July 2016 “On introduction of changes and additions in some Laws of the Republic of Belarus concerning matters of forced migration”. In particular the Law provides a new wording of the Law of the Republic of Belarus of 23 June 2008 “On granting foreign citizens and stateless persons the status of refugee, additional and temporary protection in the Republic of Belarus” expanding its scope of application. The new wording contains provisions regulating the procedure for granting the status of refugee, additional protection, asylum and temporary protection in the Republic of Belarus to foreign citizens and stateless persons.

The Law of 20 July 2016 was officially published in Russian on the National Legal Internet Portal of the Republic of Belarus on 28 July 2016, and its main provisions enter into force from 1 July 2017.
