Lukashenko wishes Happy Independence Day to all Belarusians

MINSK (BelTA) – Belarus will always cherish the great feat of older generations for the sake of independence, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said in his message of greetings to Belarusian compatriots on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Belarus' liberation from the Nazi invasion and Independence Day, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The head of state remarked that the national holiday unites Belarusians in their commitment to peace, accord and preservation of the heroic chronicle of the country.

“The Great Patriotic War touched every family with the grief of losses, brought sorrow and untold suffering to millions of Belarusians, but evoked the feelings of national unity, civil duty and readiness to protect the Homeland till the last breath in the hearts and minds of every person,” the message of greetings reads. Victory over Nazism has become an act of higher justice and a symbol of an unbroken spirit of the Belarusian nation.

“We will always cherish the great feat of older generations and live up to their memory for the sake of independence, historical truth and peace on Earth. Using the examples of true heroes we will bring up our children and build the future of sovereign, strong and prosperous Belarus together,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.
