Belarus highlights importance of digital initiatives for EAEU

MINSK (BelTA) – Belarusian Communications and Informatization Minister Konstantin Shulgan took part in the first media collegium of the digital development ministers of the EAEU member states "EAEU Digital Space: Challenges and Achievements", BelTA learned from the ministry's website.

Speaking at the event, the minister highlighted the importance of digital initiatives for the development of the EAEU states and more specifically focused on smart city technologies, which are the driver of the growth of territorial potential today.

The media collegium was also attended by Russia's Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of Russia Maksim Parshin, Armenia's Minister of High-Tech Industry Vahagn Khachatryan, Director of the Digital Initiatives Fund of the Eurasian Development Bank Alexander Petrov and others.

The participants of the event discussed the challenges and achievements of the digital economy of the partner countries in the Eurasian space, the areas of mutually beneficial cooperation through the digital community, the digital environment and digitalization in the EAEU countries, support for the national IT industry, and attracting investment in digital projects in key sectors of the economy and the social sector.

Considerable attention was paid to information security in the process of digital transformation of economies and the formation of a common digital space, the ministry informed.
