Presidential decree signed to introduce public inspectors in Belarus

MINSK (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko signed Decree No.339 on public inspectors on 10 September, the press service of the head of state told BelTA.

A system of public inspectors will be established under the aegis of the State Control Committee. Belarus citizens, who are at least 25 years of age and who can provide assistance to controlling bodies due to their moral and business qualities, can become public inspectors. Public inspectors will perform these functions on a voluntary basis in their own free time.

The Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus and other public associations can suggest employing their members as public inspectors, including for the sake of accomplishing tasks of social importance such as the monitoring of prices for staple commodities, the monitoring of the effectiveness of usage of state property.

The State Control Committee will provide guidelines for the work of public inspectors.
