Lukashenko sets major task for Belarusian scientists

MINSK ( BelTA) – The major task for the Belarusian scientists is to develop breakthrough technologies, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a meeting with representatives of the National Academy of Sciences on 25 January, BelTA has learned.

The head of state presented state awards and diplomas of academicians and corresponding members to the scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

“The dialogue was open and constructive. I would like to add that our key task is the development of breakthrough technologies and their commercialization. We need these breakthrough technologies. Believe me, we will find ways to support and reward people who will be involved in this work,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

The head of state stressed that every scientist who has been honored with the state award, who has been able to reach such heights is beyond any doubt a national asset. "There aren't many of them. Probably, they can't be many. But the more, the better," the president said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko congratulated scientists on another milestone and a new status, which, according to him, opens up new horizons and provides additional opportunities to be even more useful for the country.

"The main thing is that your developments are not shelved or neglected. Although this is unlikely, since the very title of the state award winner is an achievement by itself. It is awarded for a scientific innovation or its commercialization," the Belarusian leader noted.
