Belarus, China hold tourism investment forum

MINSK ( BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to China Yuri Senko took part in a Belarusian-Chinese investment forum on tourism, representatives of the Belarusian embassy in Beijing told BelTA.

The forum was organized by the Belarusian embassy in association with the Sports and Tourism Ministry, the Economy Ministry of Belarus and with active support of business circles, business associations of China and the Chinese special administrative region Hong Kong.

The forum was organized to present Belarus' tourism potential, attract Chinese investments in Belarus' cultural and touristic sector, and identify new avenues of cooperation in tourism, including the development of medical tourism, recreational tourism, ecological tourism, event tourism, and business tourism.

In his opening speech Yuri Senko stressed that before the pandemic Belarus was one of the top destinations for Chinese tourists in Eastern Europe. A lot of work has been done to make Chinese tourists feel comfortable in Belarus. At the same time the reconstruction of existing tourism infrastructure facilities and the construction of new ones, including with assistance of Chinese investments, will allow considerably increasing Belarus' ability to welcome tourists from China and develop new areas such as recreational tourism, event tourism, and business tourism.

Belarusian Deputy Sports and Tourism Minister Oleg Andreichik, Deputy Chairperson of the Association of Chinese Companies in Belarus Zhao Qingqiu, and a representative of the International Business Association of the Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong took part in the forum as guests of honor.

During the forum representatives of the Belarusian tourism industry presented the most promising tourism investment projects to Chinese partners, including projects for reconstructing historical and cultural properties for the sake of consequently using them in commercial business.

Chinese participants of the forum expressed interest in advancing and expanding cooperation with Belarus. They expressed readiness for discussing mutually beneficial forms of cooperation with Belarusian partners.
