PM: Belarus pays much attention to digitalization of economy

MINSK ( BelTA) – Belarus pays a lot of attention to digitalization of the economy, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said at a plenary session of the digital forum “Digital Almaty 2023: Digital Partnership in a New Reality” on 3 February, BelTA has learned.

“The forum is a good opportunity for business and expert circles, representatives of the state sector of the EAEU countries to discuss the development of the Eurasian digital market and to jointly develop approaches to solve urgent problems of regional digital cooperation,” said Roman Golovchenko.

According to him, over the past five years digital technologies have become an indisputable component of sustainable development of society and a driver of economic growth. “For the EAEU countries, as well as for the rest of the world, digitalization is inseparable from economic processes and public administration today. Such changes are a challenge to the abilities and capabilities of any state,” he said.

“Belarus pays much attention to the digitalization of the economy. A powerful infrastructural reserve has been developed for further digital transformation. This includes a developed data transmission network, high-performance data processing and storage centers, infrastructure for interdepartmental and cross-border interaction, mechanisms of identification and electronic payments, modern information protection measures. This made it possible to make a technological breakthrough, to create conditions for bringing the economy to new frontiers,” the Belarusian head of government stressed.

Digital Almaty is a traditional forum to discuss the digital agenda, new strategies of digital transformation and trends in digital technology. The forum is held for the fifth time. The main topic of the event will be the current global challenges in the development of the innovative technologies industry. The business program of the forum consists of 20 panel sessions with more than 150 speakers – representatives of international and Kazakhstani IT community. It is expected that more than 15,000 people from 30 countries will participate in the Digital Almaty forum. The panel sessions will highlight the accelerated transition of industries from automation to digitalization, prospects of digital mining, areas of application of robotization, development of the IT industry in the Eurasian region.

The forum will feature exhibitions of country technology parks, international vendors, and venture funds. The program also includes the Startup Alley with 100 new projects on display. For the first time the forum will feature the DigitalMinistryCup championship on robotics and innovative technologies among schoolchildren. The largest IT-companies will present their career opportunities.
