Andreichenko urges to involve Belarusians in public decision-making as much as possible

MINSK ( BelTA) – We should involve citizens in public decision-making as much as possible, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko said during the House of Representatives and the National Assembly's joint session, BelTA has learned.

“Today we are establishing a new parliamentary tradition. In compliance with the updated Basic Law of the country, the National Assembly has been vested with the constitutional function of inviting the prosecutor general, the head of the State Control Committee and the chairman of the Board of the National Bank to report on the results of their activities. This function should be considered part and parcel of the ongoing political reform which aims to involve citizens in public decision-making through local councils of deputies, the Belarusian People's Congress and the Parliament,” Vladimir Andreichenko said.

MPs expect that such meetings with the heads of key government bodies will increase public awareness of the situation in the country, its state policy and ensure feedback from voters. “The first such joint meeting of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic is attended by the Prosecutor General Andrei Shved,” Vladimir Andreichenko noted.
