Law on Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus adopted

On 13 July 2012 the President of the Republic of Belarus has signed the Law “On Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus”. The Law defines the Investigative Committee as single and centralized system of state law-enforcing bodies engaged in preliminary criminal investigation and exercising powers in the sphere of pre-trial criminal proceedings. The Law provides that the Investigative Committed is subordinated to the President of the Republic of Belarus.
The Law enters into force on 30 July 2012.
