Belarus, Ukraine close to financial debt settlement

MINSK, 23 December (BelTA) - Belarus and Ukraine are close to the financial debt settlement, First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir Semashko said at a press conference organized by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko for Belarusian and foreign mass media.

Vladimir Semashko informed that the sides agreed on the debt numbers. With regard to the debt, we agreed on the numbers. Everything is clear now. The debt was recognized, figures were reconciled until the last dollar, the repayment sources and schemes have been identified, he said.

The First Deputy Prime Minister called the topic of the Ukrainian debt to Belarus as slow-moving. At the last meeting of the intergovernmental Belarusian-Ukrainian commission in Kiev conducted by Vladimir Semashko and First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Andrei Klyuev, the parties agreed on the meeting of the working group which deals with this topic. After 10 January Belarus will send a delegation to Kiev for its further discussion.

This topic may be discussed during a visit of Prime Minister of Ukraine Nikolai Azarov to Belarus. Vladimir Semashko informed that when in Kiev he conveyed an invitation to Nikolai Azarov to travel to Belarus on a business visit.
