CSTO committed to CW destruction

MINSK, 29 November (BelTA) – The 16th meeting of the conference of the states parties to the Chemical Weapon Convention, the main body of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), opened in The Hague on 28 November, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus.

Attending the meeting is the Belarusian delegation led by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Belarus’ permanent representative in the OPCW Elena Gritsenko.

The general debates on 28 November included an address of the Belarus’ permanent representative on the Chemical Weapon Convention.

The diplomat noted that she represents the country which currently chairs the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. Therefore, she also acts on behalf of the CSTO member states, i.e. Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan. Elena Gritsenko confirmed the CSTO commitment to the chemical weapon destruction and non-proliferation, fight against international terrorism.
