Belarus’ Health Ministry to make sure drugs are not overpriced

MINSK, 25 November (BelTA) – The Health Ministry of Belarus will make sure pharmaceuticals are reasonably priced. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko signed relevant Decree No. 547 “On amendments and addenda to Presidential Decree No. 72 of 25 February 2011” on 24 November, BelTA learnt from the presidential press service.

The document aims to ensure efficient spending of budget funds while purchasing Belarus-made medicines.

In line with Decree No. 72, the Economy Ministry establishes a price ceiling for medicines produced in Belarus using the list of drugs adopted by the Council of Ministers.

At present, the Health Ministry is setting up the Pharmaceutical Industry Department that will carry out a single government policy in the production of pharmaceuticals.

The Health Ministry will make sure that medicines are reasonably priced, the budget funds are used efficiently and pharmaceutical companies are operating well.
