Turkey ready to invest €200m in Belarus’ wind power

MINSK, 25 November (BelTA) – Turkish company Global Wind Power is ready to invest up to €200 million in the construction of wind power installations in Belarus, BelTA learnt from the press service of the State Committee for Science and Technology (SCST) of Belarus.

The project was recently discussed at a meeting between Chairman of the SCST Igor Voitov and Turkish investors in Minsk. “The parties discussed alternative energy projects in Belarus, in particular, construction of wind power installations,” the press service informed. The installations might be located in Minsk District, Volozhin and some other places. The investments are estimated at about €100 million. “The investments depend on the size of the construction site and might be increased to €200 million in the future. The construction sites should be located in an open space with access roads and close to power lines with the capacity of at least 110KW.

Global Wind Power positions itself as a “green” company. It seeks to occupy a certain niche in the alternative energy segment in Belarus. The Turkish company has great expertise and knowledge in wind power engineering and is ready to work in the high-tech industry of Belarus.

Belarus expressed its interest in running a variety of joint projects in alternative energy, including wind power, solar power and waterpower.
