Belarus might build five agrotowns in Venezuela

MINSK, 24 November (BelTA) – Belarus may build another five agrotowns in Venezuela, Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Leonid Marinich said at the Belarus-Venezuela forum on 23 November, BelTA has learned.

Leonid Marinich noted that the Belarusian-Venezuelan agricultural and innovative cooperation is vigorously developing. Belarus offered Venezuela to use its scheme of agrotowns’ construction. According to Leonid Marinich, the construction of a pilot agrotown in Venezuela is in full swing. “By 2012 the first industrial facilities needed to organize agricultural production will be put into operation,” he said.

Venezuela offered Belarus to implement more agrotown projects. We have already agreed on two of them. “The sides are currently doing all preliminary work to implement to project. This project will be interesting for our potential partners in Latin America and will become a springboard for the presentation of innovative achievements of Belarus’ agricultural industry,” according to Leonid Marinich.

The construction of agrotowns will be financed out of Venezuelan investments. The first project will raise $314 million in investment.
