Medvedev thanks Lukashenko for commitment to integration

MOSCOW, 18 November (BelTA) – Russian President Dmitry Medvedev expressed gratitude to President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko for commitment to integration. In his words, the position of the Belarusian leader has made a big impact on the process and today’s negotiations between the Presidents of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan in Moscow, BelTA has learnt.

Dmitry Medvedev said it was the President of Belarus who suggested signing the documents to strengthen Eurasian ties in a separate meeting. The Belarusian leader has offered to hold the meeting earlier, not as initially scheduled in December, to expedite work on the Eurasian Economic Union.

The President of Russia emphasized that today’s meeting of the three Presidents is historical. It will determine the future of the three countries. “This is the milestone we have been aiming for so long,” said Dmitry Medvedev.
