Lukashenko approves documents on Investigation Committee

MINSK, 11 November (BelTA) – President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has approved documents required for the operation of the Investigation Committee of Belarus. The head of state signed the relevant decree on 10 November, the press service of the Belarusian leader told BelTA.

In order to create the necessary legal framework for the operation of the Investigation Committee the regulation on the Investigation Committee of the Republic of Belarus, the regulation on career patterns in the Investigation Committee, the Disciplinary Charter, the oath that Investigation Committee personnel will have to take have been approved. Apart from that, a list instituting correlations between special ranks of Investigation Committee personnel and ranks of prosecution service personnel, army ranks, Interior Ministry ranks, ranks of financial investigation officers of the State Control Committee has been approved.

In line with the decree the regulations of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Interior Ministry, and the State Control Committee that deal with pretrial investigation will be in effect until the Investigation Committee of Belarus passes relevant legal acts.

In line with the document the National Legislation and Legal Research Center in association with the Council of Ministers and other interested bodies will have to prepare and bring in a bill on the Investigation Committee of the Republic of Belarus for consideration of the President.

By 1 January 2012 the Council of Ministers will have to take measures to bring legislation into compliance with the decree. Other measures necessary to implement the decree will be taken.

The decree comes into force on 1 January 2012.
