Lukashenko promotes oblast governors, Minsk mayor to major-general rank

MINSK, 3 November (BelTA) – President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has promoted oblast governors and the Minsk mayor to the rank of major-general because they are the heads of defense councils of the relevant regions. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko made the decision as he visited a stationary control post of the territorial defense headquarters in Minsk on 3 November, BelTA has learned.

Addressing Nikolai Ladutko, Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee, the Belarusian head of state said: “He is a major-general as of today. He is responsible for territorial defense with his head. And it is his right to deploy territorial defense after informing the President and getting his approval”.
