Lukashenko agrees to sign contractual arrangement with Russia to build Belarus’ NPP

MINSK, 11 October (BelTA) - President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko gave his consent to sign a contractual arrangement with Russia to build Belarus’ nuclear power plant. The head of state made this statement as he met with Governor of Novgorod Oblast Sergei Mitin, BelTA reports.

“I have just signed a decree and gave my consent to sign a contract with Russia to build Belarus’ first nuclear power plant,” said the head of state. He noted that this is a great achievement. “This decision is worth a lot for Belarus, and we are very grateful to the Russian leadership that they have kept their word and, despite the terrible pressure from all sides, are keeping their word,” stressed the President.

“We are determined to construct the plant. We have already done a lot on the site of the future nuclear power plant,” said Alexander Lukashenko.
