Lukashenko hopes joint projects with Novgorod Oblast will bear fruit

MINSK, 11 October (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko expects the joint projects with Novgorod Oblast will pay off handsomely. Belarus and Novgorod Oblast have united their material and labor resources, manufacturing and scientific potential to produce internationally competitive products. The Belarusian President made this statement as he met with Novgorod Oblast Governor Sergei Mitin, BelTA has learnt.

The head of state underlined that Novgorod Oblast is among the major trading partners of Belarus. Against the backdrop of the global financial and economic turmoil and severe competition on the global market, the two parties need to take advantage of the complementary nature of their economies, the President said.

Novgorod Oblast is actively developing its agricultural industry, it boasts a well-developed peat and wood production. Among the region’s priorities are housing and road construction. The President of Belarus believes that our country could offer Novgorod Oblast highly qualified and experienced specialists, modern technological solutions and advanced machinery and equipment.

According to the head of state, Belarus and Novgorod Oblast should advance their relations to a new level and explore new cooperation opportunities, besides trade. He pins great hopes on the implementation of joint projects.

Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that Belarus views Novgorod Oblast as a reliable and promising partner. He expressed confidence that the ongoing visit of the Novgorod Oblast delegation led by the governor will ramp up the overall bilateral cooperation between Belarus and Russia.
