Customs Union restricts meat and dairy imports from France

MOSCOW, 10 October (BelTA) - On 10 October Rosselkhoznadzor imposed temporary restrictions on the supply of foodstuffs produced by nine meat-packing plants and three dairies of France to Russia and the Customs Union member states over the violation of the veterinary-sanitary requirements of the Customs Union, BelTA learnt from Russia’s Rosselkhoznadzor.

A letter requesting an official investigation into the violations identified during an inspection was sent to the veterinary service of France.

From 26 June to 9 July 2011, specialists of Rosselkhoznadzor, in agreement with the veterinary services of Belarus and Kazakhstan, inspected 19 French enterprises entitled to deliver the products of animal origin to the Customs Union member states. Following the inspection, five dairies and two meat-packing plants of France have retained their right to supply foodstuffs to the Customs Union member states.
