EU-compliant presidential election in Belarus
MINSK, 7 October (BelTA) – The presidential election in Belarus was held “in compliance with the vision” of the European Union, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko told the press conference held on 7 October for Russian mass media.
Alexander Lukashenko reminded about the progress of the presidential campaign and its various stages. He remarked: “I made all the concessions. And what did we get? They still blamed Lukashenko for being a scoundrel and so on. My ideology is alien for them. I will never be one of them”.
“We held the election that way and it still wasn’t good enough for them. It is true that some Russians helped put pressure on us but we survived. I don’t complain. It may be the fate of the Belarusians and my fate. This piece of land is so attractive and so strategically important,” said Alexander Lukashenko.
According to the Belarusian head of state, everyone knows what social polls are worth: polls show the percentages the West has paid for.
