Serbia eager to boost trade with Belarus to $500m

BREST, 6 October (BelTA) – Serbia expects to raise the bilateral trade with Belarus to $500 million, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Serbia to Belarus Stojan Jevtic said as he met with officials of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee on 5 October, BelTA has learned.

According to Stojan Jevtic, Belarus, and particularly Brest Oblast, have a huge cooperation potential. “Serbia has a wealth of experience in the production of hybrid varieties of crops. I think it important to establish cooperation with Belarusian hybrid stations, the National Academy of Sciences in order to carry out joint research and implement joint commercial projects in this area,” Stojan Jevtic said.

Serbia has a wealth of experience and technologies in agricultural processing. Agriculture in Belarus is well developed; joint projects in this area are very promising. Moreover, the countries may cooperate in machinery engineering and metallurgy.

According to Stojan Jevtic, Serbia offers Belarus to implement about 200 joint projects. In October Minsk will welcome a delegation of Serbian businessmen. The parties will consider proposals of Belarus.
