SES to face open competition and opposition

MINSK, 25 October (BelTA) – The single economic space (SES) will not avoid open competition and opposition, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with Chairman of the Majilis – the lower house of the Kazakh Parliament – Ural Muhamedzhanov, BelTA has learnt.

“We will get colossal opportunities when the single economic space becomes operational. Of course, we will also face some difficulties and issues, we will not avoid criticism, it has already emerged; we will not avoid open competition and resistance, this is natural, but we are determined to do that with dignity,” the head of state said.

Alexander Lukashenko thanked Kazakhstan for supporting Belarus on the international arena. He emphasized that the two countries do not have disagreements on the international agenda.

“We are the closest states on this Earth, Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan, who decided to challenge the time and create a solid economic integration structure. We have made much progress, not only theoretically, but also in practice,” the President said.

Talking about the single economic space, the head of state noted that this is a very advanced union and the role of Kazakhstan here is tremendous. Kazakh MPs have greatly contributed to developing the legal framework for it. Alexander Lukashenko also praised the role of President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev in the creation of the single economic space and gave him best regards.

“As for the Belarus-Kazakhstan relations, we are already implementing two dozen projects. They are absolutely feasible and are under control. We are making good progress with them. We can learn from each other, we are not competitors here, our economies are complementary,” the Belarusian President emphasized.
