Beltransgaz shares may be sold in November
MINSK, 19 October (BelTA) – Shares of the Belarusian gas pipeline operator OAO Beltransgaz may be sold to the Russian gas giant Gazprom in November 2011, Chairman of the State Property Committee of Belarus Georgy Kuznetsov told media on 19 October.
The official said that the necessary paperwork for selling the shares had been prepared. He specified the price for 50% of Beltransgaz had been set long before at $2.5 billion.
A Belarusian delegation is now in Moscow to finish the negotiations with Gazprom. All the issues regarding the purchase contract had been addressed, said Georgy Kuznetsov. Only matters concerning the intergovernmental agreement are to be addressed. The official said that the Russian side may transfer money for the shares as early as November.
At present Gazprom owns a 50% stake in Beltransgaz.
