Customs Union joint customs panel to sit in Moscow 20 October

MINSK, 18 October (BelTA) – A meeting of the joint panel of the customs services of the Customs Union member states will take place in Moscow on 20 October, the State Customs Committee of Belarus told BelTA.

It will be the first meeting of the joint customs panel of the Customs Union. Attending the event will be Chairman of the State Customs Committee Alexander Shpilevsky.

The joint panel was established in June 2011 to coordinate cooperation between the customs services of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan. Its task is to ensure the implementation of the goals of the Customs Union and harmonize customs legislation and regulations.

During the first meeting the panel is set to consider 14 issues. These include the election of the chairman of the joint panel, his deputies. The panel members will also review the regulations on the secretariat of the joint panel of the customs services of the Customs Union member states and set up relevant working groups. A plan of action for 2012 will be on the agenda too.
