Contracts to import Russia’s gas and sell Beltransgaz due in November

MINSK, 18 October (BelTA) – The contracts to supply Russia’s gas and sell Beltransgaz shares will be ready for signing by November 2011, BelTA learnt from the press service of Gazprom.

A regular meeting of Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gazprom Alexei Miller and Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Rumas took place at the central office of Gazprom on 17 October.

“The parties are finalizing the gas supply and transit contract and the deal to purchase the remaining shares of Beltransgaz by Gazprom. The participants of the meeting noted that the documents will be prepared in November,” the Gazprom press service informed.

On 31 December 2006 Gazprom and Beltransgaz signed a contract for the delivery and transit of natural gas in 2007-2011. In particular, the document laid down the pricing formula to be used starting 1 January 2008 (it matched the pricing formula used for Russian gas deliveries to Europe) as well as decreasing coefficients for the price in 2008-2010 (0.67, 0.8 and 0.9 respectively). In August 2011 Russia’s head of government Vladimir Putin instructed the Energy Ministry of Russian and Gazprom to determine the decreasing coefficient for the gas price for Belarus in 2012. Gazprom owns 50% of Beltransgaz shares.
