Ecuador delegation to visit Belarus

MINSK, 14 October (BelTA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Integration of the Republic of Ecuador Ricardo Patino Aroca will come to Minsk for an official visit on 16-18 October, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

The Ecuador delegation will meet with Belarus’ Foreign Ministry officials and members of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus. They will discuss ways to expand the bilateral cooperation and identify new cooperation prospects.

The Ecuador delegation is set to visit Belarus’ major industrial exporting companies and the National Library of Belarus.

Ecuador is a promising partner of Belarus in South America. At present, the bilateral trade is insignificant; however, it keeps growing. Over the last five years, the bilateral trade has doubled to reach $38.6 million in 2010, with Belarus’ export being $12.1 million.

Belarus’ major exports to Ecuador are potash and nitrogen fertilizes. The supplies of tires are steadily growing, too. Belarus’ major imports from Ecuador include bananas, flowers, coffee and tea concentrates.
