Belarus expects second tranche of EurAsEC loan on time

MINSK, 28 September (BelTA) – The Belarusian government is confident that the second tranche of the EurAsEC Anticrisis Fund loan will arrive in November as planned, Vice Premier of Belarus Sergei Rumas told media on 28 September.

Asked whether the government is confident the second tranche would arrive on time, the official said it was. “We joined the program to comply with every requirement and get all tranches of the loan,” he stressed. Sergei Rumas added that Belarus complies with the requirements necessary to get the loan from the EurAsEC Anticrisis Fund.

BelTA reported earlier that Belarus expects to get the second tranche of the loan allocated by the EurAsEC Anticrisis Fund in November. The agreement between Belarus and the Eurasian Development Bank on granting the loan to Belarus was signed on 9 June 2011. The loan is as large as $3 billion. The money will be transferred in six tranches. The first one as large as $800 million was transferred on 21 June. This year Belarus is expected to get $1.24 billion out of the total. The money will be spent on fleshing out economic policy measures in the medium term or on replenishing international reserve assets and financing Belarus’ balance of payments in other words.
