Belarus, Sberbank of Russia working on loan details

MINSK, 28 September (BelTA) – Belarus and Sberbank of Russia are working on details of the loan for Belarus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Belarus Alexander Surikov told media on 28 September.

Instead of a syndicated loan from Sberbank and Deutsche Bank, Belarus will get a $1 billion loan from Sberbank. The sides are discussing the borrowing terms, said Alexander Surikov.

BelTA reported earlier that the Belarusian government was in talks with Sberbank of Russia aiming to get a $1 billion loan against guarantees of the government and a pledge of 51% of OAO Naftan shares. Earlier the Belarusian government was disinclined to pledge shares of OAO Belaruskali, one of the most successful Belarusian companies.
