Belarus attending 49th meeting of WIPO Assemblies

MINSK, 27 September (BelTA) – A Belarusian delegation is taking part in the 49th series of meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva from 26 September to 5 October, BelTA learnt from the Foreign Ministry.

The Belarusian delegation is led by Director General of the National Intellectual Property center Leonid Voronetsky. The Belarusian delegation is expected to partake in the Assemblies plenary meetings, the work of the WIPO permanent committees and the regional group of Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Caucasus.

The session participants will discuss some financial issues, the prospects for the development of the international intellectual property system and elect members of the WIPO governing bodies.

Belarus joined WIPO on 26 April 1970. The country is a member of the WIPO Coordination Committee, the Committee on Program and Budget Committee and the Executive Committee of the Paris Union. Belarus and WIPO mainly cooperate in improvement of the national intellectual property system.
