Customs Union restricts some meat and dairy imports from France

MOSCOW, 27 September (BelTA) – The Russian food safety watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor is imposing temporary restrictions on some food imports from France to the Customs Union on 10 October. The restrictions will apply to nine meat producers and three dairies of France over the violation of food safety requirements of the Customs Union, BelTA learnt from Rosselkhoznadzor.

A letter was sent to the veterinary service of France asking to investigate the violations revealed during the inspection.

From 26 June to 9 July 2011 specialists of Rosselkhoznadzor as agreed with the food safety watchdogs of Belarus and Kazakhstan carried out an inspection of 19 French companies supplying meat and dairy products to the Customs Union member states. As a result of the tests, five dairies and two meat packing plants retained their right to export products to the Customs Union.
