Small and medium-sized towns should grow on the back of big companies

KRUGLOYE DISTRICT, 25 April (BelTA) – All small and medium-sized towns in Belarus should grow on the back of big companies, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said as he visited Krugloye Mobile Mechanical Division (MMD) No. 266 MMD on 25 April. The Belarusian President referred to the Krugloye MMD as an example, BelTA has learnt.

The experience of the Krugloye MMD should be used by other districts. All backbone companies in district capitals should follow suit, the President said.

“A backbone enterprise should not only expand its production, but also social services. I will not repeat it again: I give you 1.5 years to make this happen in all the districts,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

While visiting Krugloye Mobile Mechanical Division No. 266, the head of state was informed about the state of efforts to implement the program to develop regions, small and medium-sized towns. MMD No. 266 constructs residential housing, cultural and community facilities, manufacturing and agricultural enterprises. The company invests own funds into the social infrastructure of Krugloye. The local social facilities include the Mara service centers, the Stroitel hobby center, the Gaspadar shopping mall, a new shopping and hotel complex with a restaurant, a store, a bar, a sauna, a bowling, a night club, a wedding hall, a tennis court, an ice arena, and a recreation center. In 2012 a confectionery shop floor was commissioned to produce bread and pastry.

The head of state praised the company’s efforts to construct manufacturing and social facilities in Krugloye.

Alexander Lukashenko noted that all MMDs in Belarus should adopt best practices of the Krugloye MMD to enhance efficiency and differentiate production and social tasks.
