Lukashenko: Development of telecom industry is a priority in Belarus

MINSK, 25 April (BelTA) – President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has sent greetings to participants of the 19th international forum for telecommunications, information and banking technologies TIBO 2012 and the 16th international specialized expo Mass Media in Belarus, BelTA learnt from the presidential press service.

“The modern world is impossible without information technologies. They have transformed the civilization, advanced the humankind to a new development stage called “information society”, the message reads.

The head of state noted that Belarus assigns a high priority to the development of information and communication technologies. “We have made some progress, but we still have a lot to do. Our country seeks to employ the world’s best and most progressive practices. In this regard, the exhibitions Mass Media in Belarus and TIBO 2012 play a significant positive role,” the head of state said.

Alexander Lukashenko wished that participants and guests of the exhibitions had interesting discussions, achieved practical results and engaged in fruitful work to the benefit of the Belarusian people.
