Kemerovo Oblast shows interest in producing BelAZ 90-tonne dump trucks

ZHODINO, 10 April (BelTA) – Kemerovo Oblast shows interest in producing BelAZ 90-tonne dump trucks on its territory. The relevant negotiations were held at the Belarusian Autoworks in Zhodino on 10 April, BelTA has learnt.

A delegation of the Kemerovo Oblast, the Russian Federation, led by First Vice Governor Valentin Mazikin has arrived in Belarus on a working visit. The talks were attended by Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Vladimir Tsalko and BelAZ Director General Piotr Parkhomchik.

According to Head of Russia’s Siberia Business Union Holding Company Mikhail Fedyayev, there are plans to set up a production of 90-tonne dump trucks in Kuzbass. Kemerovo Oblast purchases these vehicles for the use on open-pit coal mines. The move will lessen the load on the BelAZ production facilities and give work to the engineering plant in Kemerovo Oblast. This will be a full-cycle production of dump trucks, Mikhail Fedyayev stressed. Today Kuzbass buys trucks and makes bodywork itself. In 2011 there were produced 120 vehicles. The next step of cooperation envisages the transfer of all technical documents on 90-tonne dump trucks and setting up a joint company in the Siberian region.

According to the chief of the Russian company, this project will mark a breakthrough in cooperation between Belarus and Kemerovo Oblast. “The joint project will be highly lucrative for the both parties. Kemerovo will be able to produce 150-200 BelAZ trucks per year. Thus we will be able to meet the needs of the oblast and other regions for this model,” Mikhail Fedyayev said.

The parties are now in talks over the production of 90-tonne dump trucks. Other models, like 130-tonne dump trucks, might be produced in the future. The most promising BelAZ model in Kuznetsk Basin is a 220-240-tonne dump truck. The demand for this dump truck exceeds the supply. The second most popular model is a 360-tonne dump truck.

The joint venture KuzbassBelazavto has been operating in Kemerovo Oblast for three years already. It is among the biggest dealers in Russia. In 2011 it sold 56% of machines produced by BelAZ.

In 2011 the trade between Belarus and Kemerovo Oblast made $602.3 million (12th position among Russian regions), up by 83.2% compared with 2010. The export reached $547.8 million (up by 73.7%), import made $54.5 million (up 4.1 times). The trade surplus made $493.3 million.

In 2011, Kemerovo Oblast imported dump trucks and trucks to the tune of $445.9 million and also tires ($48.5 million), spare parts for trucks and tractors ($18.9 million), engines and power units ($7.3 million). Deliveries of trucks increased by $200.9 million (up 1.8 times), tires by $10.5 million (up 27.6%), spare parts for trucks and tractors $5.8 million (44.7%), engines and power units $4.8 million (2.9 times). However, deliveries of Belarusian lifts, special-purpose vehicles reduced.

In 2011 Kemerovo Oblast major import items were freight rail wagons ($30.8 million), coal (from $8.8 million), and electric transformers ($2 million). Coal supplies to Belarus increased by $8.3 million, electrical transformers by $1.6 million.

In January-February 2012, the trade between Belarus and Kemerovo Oblast amounted to $90.6 million, up 58.3% from the same period last year. Belarus exported trucks, tires, spare parts for trucks and tractors, engines and power units.
