Melnikov: Union State has become a driving force in the ex-Soviet area

MOSCOW, 3 April (BelTA) – The Union State has become a driving force for integration projects in the former Soviet Union, First Vice Speaker of the State Duma of Russia Ivan Melnikov said in a solemn meeting in Moscow on 2 April to mark the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia.

Ivan Melnikov stressed that mutual relations between Belarusian and Russian nations are more than friendship. “This is a time-proved connection,” he said.

The official noted that the Belarusian-Russian cooperation has been evolving in all the areas. Nevertheless it still has a big untapped potential and reserves. “May our brotherly peoples prosper and grow stronger,” Ivan Melnikov said.
