Lukashenko: Belarus-Russia Union has become a flagship of integration in the post-Soviet space

MINSK, 2 April (BelTA) – Chairman of the Supreme State Council of the Union State Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has congratulated Belarusians and Russians on the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia, BelTA learnt from the presidential press service.

“Today we are united by common history, culture and the earnest desire to join efforts and potentials for securing sustainable social and economic development of the two countries,” the message of greetings says.

Alexander Lukashenko emphasized great progress the two countries have made in all areas of cooperation.

“The union of Belarus and Russia has become a true flagship of integration in the post-Soviet space. We successfully apply unique ideas developed on the basis of up-to-date models of interstate relations as part of the Union State construction process in broader integration formats,” the Belarusian leader stressed.

“Belarus and Russia are committed to mutually beneficial cooperation. Though we still have to address a number of problems, concerted actions will open new horizons for the sustainable development of national economies and the improvement of people's living standards,” the President of Belarus added.

Alexander Lukashenko wished Belarusians and Russians health, wellbeing and confidence in the future. “May your boldest plans come true. May peace, accord and happiness reign in the common home of Belarus and Russia,” the head of state noted.
