Belarus to make 10 million tonnes of cement in 2013

VOLKOVYSK DISTRICT, 30 April (BelTA) – As much as 10 million tonnes of cement will be produced in Belarus in 2013, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko was told as he visited the construction materials manufacturer OAO Krasnoselskstroimaterialy in Volkovysk District on 30 April.

As much as 4.8 million tonnes will be consumed domestically, with 5.2 million tonnes exported.

This year three cement manufacturers of Belarus are expected to turn out 6 million tonnes of cement, with 2 million tonnes exported.

Alexander Lukashenko got familiar with the development of the national cement industry, with OAO Krasnoselskstroimaterialy serving as an example. In particular, he got familiar with the implementation of investment projects to create new technological lines that allow considerable energy saving through replacing natural gas with coal for manufacturing processes.

Alexander Lukashenko unveiled a new clinker brick manufacturing line at OAO Krasnoselskstroimaterialy. He got familiar with the new production facility as well as an exhibition of the company’s products.

During Alexander Lukashenko’s conversation with executives and specialists of the company it was said that the decision made over 10 years ago to keep the enterprise was right. The head of state reminded that foreign investors were willing to buy the enterprise for $25 million in 1999. Back then Alexander Lukashenko visited the enterprise and decided the state should keep it. Time has proved the correctness of the decision. At present Krasnoselskstroimaterialy accounts for 42% of the national cement output. In 2012 the enterprise plans to turn out 2.4 million tonnes of cement, with the new line turning out 650,000 tonnes.
