Belarus to partake in Moscow International Book Fair

MOSCOW, 31 August (BelTA) – Belarus will present its Year of Book theme at the 25th Moscow International Book Fair which is due in the Russian capital on 5-10 September, BelTA has learnt.

The Year of Book presentation will be conducted by First Deputy Information Minister of Belarus Liliya Ananich ahead of the official opening of the Moscow forum. The opening ceremony will be followed by a presentation of the Books of the Republic of Belarus collective exposition that will occupy two stands.

The Belarusian stands will hold presentations of the latest publications. Among them are Polotsk. 1150; History of the Belarusian Railways. From 19th century into the 21st century; Grodno. On the Western Border of the Fatherland; Belarusian weddings: secret keys to domestic harmony; a facsimile edition of 1926 The History of the Belarusian Book supplemented with commentaries. The Prominent Masters of Belarus series will comprise books Ivan Khrutsky, Valentin Vankovich, Yazep Drozdovich and Stanislav Zhukovsky. The Life of Outstanding People of Belarus series include publications Yanka Kupala. I Have Dreams about Belarus and Maksim Tank. On Stone, Iron and Gold. The Belarusian stands will host numerous meetings with Belarusian writers and publishers.

Apart from Belarusian publications, the Books of the Republic of Belarus exposition will feature publication projects of the Union State. Among them are the following works: Union State. Ten Year On; Belarus-Russia: Regional Cooperation; Letters of Friendship; Polotsk-Smolensk. Landmarks of the Common Fate and others.

The program of the Moscow International Book Fair envisages a roundtable, Book Industry for Preservation and Development of the Common Cultural and Historical Space of Belarus and Russia. Its organizers are the Information Ministry of Belarus, the Union State Permanent Committee, the Petrus Brovka Belarusian Encyclopedia under the auspices of the Embassy of Belarus in Russia.

An award ceremony of the winners of the 9th CIS International Contest Art of Book will take place on 7 September. This year Belarusian books have received five awards including Grand-Prix in different nominations.

Belarus is a regular participant of the Moscow International Book Fair. Belarus was a Guest of Honor at the exhibition in 2010.
