Gazprom to fully satisfy Belarus’ demand for natural gas

KOBRIN, 23 August (BelTA) – Gazprom will fully satisfy Belarus’ demand for natural gas, Chairman of the Board of Gazprom Alexei Miller told the session held in the Belarusian town of Kobrin on 23 August to discuss the development of the Belarusian gas transportation system.

Opening the session, Alexei Miller said it was important because it would table strategic matters pertaining to the development of the gas transportation system in Belarus. It was the first session of the kind held by Gazprom in Belarus after the company became a 100% owner of Beltransgaz.

Participants of the session are also expected to discuss the development of underground gas storage facilities. “We follow the demand and will shape our plans depending on the growth of gas consumption,” said Alexei Miller. In this regard the main task is to fully and timely satisfy all the needs of customers in Belarus. It is true for households, utilities enterprises, the production sector and all the branches of the national economy, specified Alexei Miller. He also mentioned the importance of discussing the matter of raising the reliability of the gas delivery service. Developing underground gas storage facilities, raising the volume of active gas storage is the idea. “First of all, it concerns peak gas consumption in January-February. It is possible to increase the capacity of underground gas storage facilities in Belarus, therefore today we will pay close attention to these matters,” stressed the Gazprom head.
