Belarus harvests 6 million tonnes of grain so far

MINSK, 6 August (BelTA) – Belarus’ grain harvest is past the mark of six million tonnes. As of 6 August, it was 6,325.4 million tonnes, BelTA learnt from in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.

The average yield is 38.3 centners per hectare. The same day a year earlier it was 34.6 centners per hectare. A total of 1.652 million hectares sown with grain and legume crops were harvested, which represents 68% of the plan (as against 61.2% the same day a year earlier).

Minsk Oblast is the leader of the harvest campaign with 1.5 million tonnes, the yield of 41 centners/ha. Grodno Oblast cropped 1,220.2 million tonnes, with the average yield of 48.7 centners/ha. Brest Oblast harvested 89.3% of the areas sown with grain crops. As of today the harvest is 1,247.4 million tonnes, with the yield being at 39.3 centners/ha.
