Belarus 18th in Olympic medal count

MINSK, 6 August (BelTA) - After ten days of the 2012 London Olympic Games the Belarusian team rank 18th in the medal count, BelTA has learnt.

As of 5 August Belarus won seven medals. Olympic champions are shooter Sergei Martynov and tennis duo Victoria Azarenka/Max Mirnyi. Alexandra Gerasimenya snatched two silver medals. Victoria Azarenka and weightlifters Marina Shkermankova and Irina Kulesha won bronze medals.

Leading in medal count is China with 61 medals (30 gold, 17 silver and 14 bronze). It is followed by the U.S. with 60 medals (28, 14, 18) and host team GB with 37 medals (16, 11, 10).

The medals at the Olympic Games will be awarded during a total of 302 award ceremonies. The Olympiad will finish on Sunday 12 August.
