Belarus’ CEC members to observe Ukrainian elections
MINSK, 9 August (BelTA) - Representatives of the Central Election Commission of Belarus (CEC) will monitor the Ukrainian parliamentary elections as part of the CIS observation mission, Chairperson of the CEC Lidia Yermoshina told media on 9 August, BelTA has learnt.
Lidia Yermoshina explained: “Two CEC observers will go to Ukraine on the proposal of the CIS Executive Committee that was invited by Ukraine and is now setting up an election observation mission. However, we have not received any, let us say, personal invitation from our counterparts.”
The parliamentary elections in Ukraine are due on 28 October.
Other former Soviet states, Lithuania and Georgia, will soon hold parliamentary elections, too. Lidia Yermoshina noted that the CEC has not yet received any invitations from these states regarding election monitoring.
