Time capsule placed at Belarusian nuclear station site

OSTROVETS DISTRICT, 9 August (BelTA) – A time capsule with a message addressed to future generations has been buried at the construction site of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko took part in the ceremony, BelTA has learned.

During the solemn ceremony President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko placed the capsule into a memorial stone placed at the construction site. After that the head of state together with First Vice Premier of Belarus Vladimir Semashko, Grodno Oblast Governor Semyon Shapiro, and First Deputy Director General of the state corporation for atomic energy Rosatom Alexander Lokshin attached a memorial plaque to the stone.

The message to the generations to come reads: “The creation of the national nuclear energy industry is a considerable step in the enhancement of the country’s energy security, a powerful incentive for accelerating the scientific and technological advance as well as innovation-driven development”. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed the message. The message expresses confidence that the decision to build the nuclear power plant in Belarus will allow securing further rapid advance of the economy, will improve living standards of the people, and will change the life of the promising region. “Implementing the slogan about building strong and prosperous Belarus as a state for the people, we are starting the implementation of the largest joint investment project – the construction of the first nuclear power plant in our territory – together with brotherly Russia,” the message reads.

The message to descendants expresses hope that the future generations will be thankful for the contribution to creating a reliable energy base as the foundation for sustainable development of the country and for raising its role in the global community.
