Belarus plans to increase export by 15.2% in 2013

MINSK, 8 August (BelTA) – Belarus is set to increase export of goods and services by 15.2% in 2013, Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich said at a session of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus on 8 August, BelTA has learnt.

In 2013 GDP is projected to expand by 8.5%. “We will seek to secure a foreign trade surplus of at least $0.5 billion,” Mikhail Myasnikovich noted.

In his words, all 2013 targets regarding the social and economic development, budget and monetary policy are interconnected on the macro level. “Aggregate demand, i.e. the final consumption, gross savings and export are estimated at $129.4 billion and equal GDP plus import, which is, in fact, aggregate supply,” Mikhail Myasnikovich said.

“Expenses on law enforcement and security agencies will total 8.8% of the consolidated budget in 2013, up 1.24 times as against 2012. I underscore that these numbers are effective only if the inflation runs at 12%,” the Prime Minister said. Health expenditures will account for 13.6% of the budget expenses, education expenditures 17.6% of the budget, up 1.28 and 1.24 times respectively.

The Council of Ministers will submit draft budget, projections of the social and economic development and monetary policy guidelines for 2013 to the President of the Republic of Belarus later in August. The 2013 budget is expected to be approved by the present convocation of the parliament, Mikhail Myasnikovich underscored.

Analyzing the GDP structure, he said that salaries account for 45%, profit and amortization of enterprises 42% and net taxes 13%. Addressing the government members, he recommended them not to look for objective reasons to loosen the targets or reduce expenses for national purposes. “I want you to propose breakthrough-projects and the mechanisms for efficient work,” Mikhail Myasnikovich summarized.
