Lukashenko: KGB is a strong shield against internal and external threats

MINSK, 20 December (BelTA) – President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has congratulated top officials, the staff and veterans of the State Security Committee (KGB) on their professional holiday – Security Services Day, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian head of state.

“Being a successor of the All-Russian Extraordinary Commission - State Security Committee, the Belarusian security services have passed a long path of development over the 95 years. They have embraced the best traditions of elder generations, the most important of which is honest service for the Fatherland. Today the State Security Committee professionally addresses its tasks, serves a reliable shield of Belarus against domestic and external threats, makes a considerable contribution to preserving the sovereignty and integrity of our country,” the President said.

Alexander Lukashenko sent special wishes to veterans of the security services: “You are an example of courage, true patriotism and civil responsibility. Your experience and wisdom inspire young members of the security services”.

“I am convinced that the security services will keep proving in practice their fidelity to duty and will further protect national interests of our Homeland,” the head of state underlined.
