Goodyear involved in super heavy duty tires project at Belshina

MOGILEV, 13 December (BelTA) - One of the world's largest tire companies, Goodyear, is involved in the project to start the production of super heavy duty tires at OAO Belshina, First Vice Premier Vladimir Semashko reported to President to Belarus Alexander Lukashenko during his working visit of to Mogilev Oblast.

According to Mogilev Oblast Governor Piotr Rudnik, for the further development the enterprise needs greater involvement of scientific capacity to develop new products.

First Vice Premier Vladimir Semashko briefed the President that the relevant decisions had been taken. In particular, measures were taken to upgrade the production of super heavy duty tires which are lagging behind the Western analogues in quality. “The decision was taken a year ago. They have designed the relevant program through 2017,” he said.

Vladimir Semashko said that a scientific and technical center would be set up for this purpose. Partaking in the project are foreign specialists, including from Goodyear.

“We need an estimated $110-115 million of investment for this technical upgrade,” Vladimir Semashko added.
