Lukashenko calls Swedish aircraft incident “tomfoolery”

MINSK, 11 December (BelTA) – The incident involving the unauthorized flight of the Swedish light aircraft over Belarus from the territory of Lithuania is tomfoolery, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said at the meeting with members of the Club of Editors-in-Chief of the CIS, Baltic States and Georgia on 11 December, BelTA has learnt.

“Why would Lithuania send a Swedish aircraft to drop some teddy bears? What if we hit them? What would be left of the airplane? It was Lithuania that allowed that; the aircraft flew here from a Lithuanian airdrome,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

“It is tomfoolery. You should not do that. We are neighbors. After all, today Lithuania and Latvia say that they cannot do without Belarus,” the President said.
