CIS defense ministers okay draft concept for united radar identification system

MOSCOW, 11 December (BelTA) – The CIS Defense Ministers Council approved the draft concept for the development of a united radar identification system at the session in Moscow on 11 December. The information was released after the session by Russian Defense Minister Mr Sergei Shoigu, BelTA has learned.

The official said: “At the session we approved the concept that will regulate the operation and development of the radar identification system in the CIS states”.

Sergei Shoigu also said that the CIS states will hold an exercise of the united air defense system at the firing range Ashuluk in 2013. According to the official, over RUB500 million will be allocated for the development of the united CIS air defense system in 2013. At the session Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu was elected new Chairman of the CIS Defense Ministers Council.
