Belarus invited to take part in FIFA World Cup 2018 infrastructure projects in Kaliningrad

MINSK, 3 December (BelTA) - Belarus may take part in the projects to build the infrastructure for the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Kaliningrad Oblast, Governor of Kaliningrad Oblast Nikolai Tsukanov said at a meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, BelTA has learnt.

“We would very much like to involve our Belarusian partners in the construction of infrastructure for the World Cup, road infrastructure. Your many-year experience will be very useful for us,” said the Governor.

According to Mr Nikolai Tsukanov, it is important that Kaliningrad Oblast and Belarus enjoy close historical ties and kinship among people. The economies of Kaliningrad oblast and Belarus are quite dynamic. There are close interregional links. "We see that trade increases every year. But we can do better as there are all preconditions for that,” said the Governor.

The delegation of Kaliningrad Oblast is in Belarus on a visit on 2-5 December. On 3 December Minsk will host the 10th session of the Belarusian-Russian council for long-term cooperation between regions, ministries and public authorities of Belarus and Kaliningrad Oblast.
